What can the family of an eligible veteran expect?
The core elements of the funeral honors ceremony, which will be conducted on request, are:


At National Cemetery and at other sites:

  • Receive casket and escort to grave site

  • Fold and Present Flag

  • Fire a three volley Rifle Salute

  • Play Taps

  • Present Flag Recipient with pouch containing three expended cartridges


How much does a Military Funeral Honors detail cost?
The service provided by the DFW Honor Guard is provided at no cost to the family.


However, if a family so wishes, the Honor Guard may accept an honorarium of any amount that the family wishes to give. Should such an honorarium be given, it is used exclusively to help offset the cost of providing this service to honor our departed veterans.

Military Funeral Honors provided by the Armed Forces of the United States
The local military honor groups are comprised of a combination of active duty members and full-time reserve members who provide military honors to all Veterans. On occasion, members of veteran service organizations also participate in providing supplemental military honors by providing a three-person rifle detail or live bugler.
